What This Calculator Does
The Ontario Self-Employed Tax Calculator estimates your total annual tax and CPP obligations as a self-employed Ontario resident for the 2026 tax year. It covers federal income tax, Ontario provincial tax, Ontario Health Premium, Ontario surtax, CPP1, and CPP2 — and gives you a monthly set-aside number so you're not caught off guard at filing time.
Who It's For
- Sole proprietors filing a T2125
- Freelancers and independent contractors
- Gig workers (rideshare, delivery, platform work)
- Anyone with unincorporated self-employment income in Ontario
If you're incorporated, this isn't the right tool — corporate tax works differently.
How It Works
You enter your gross self-employment revenue, deductible business expenses, and optionally any T4 employment income or RRSP contributions. The calculator figures out your CPP on net self-employment income (not gross), applies the 2026 federal and Ontario brackets, adds surtax and the Ontario Health Premium where applicable, and shows you what you'll actually owe — and what to set aside each month.
All rates come from official CRA publications for the 2026 tax year. The calculation methodology is documented on the calculator page.
Important Note
This is an estimate, not a tax return. The CPP deduction shown is an approximation — exact CPP treatment requires Schedule 8 at filing and may differ. This tool doesn't account for every credit, deduction, or individual circumstance. Talk to a CPA or tax professional for advice specific to your situation.
